So it’s award season, from the Golden Globes to the Grammys to the Oscars! I love the magic of cinema and the glamour of fashion that comes hand in hand with it. Imagination given full reign in cinemascope and Dolby surround sound; Beauty centre stage as designers send their creative best down the red carpet, transforming mere mortals into gods and goddesses in a true show of star power. Lifted above the ordinary, life is bigger, better, one thousand watts brighter with sparkle and gold. What’s not to love?
Movies keep us mesmerised and coming back. We see ourselves in the actors as they step into the pool of human experience and bring to the forefront what it’s all about. Whether we fall in love again in La La Land or are shaken by tragedy in Manchester by the Sea, these are our stories brought to life and through them we are seen, heard and even healed.
So what is the seductive, almost hypnotic allure of celebrity? What are the multi billion dollar fashion and film industries really built upon? Whether we are drawn to the fabulosity of fashion or to idolising the superstars that become our icons, what is that underlying current which carries us so seamlessly beyond ourselves?
Once again, the answer lies in the question. Celebrity is a derivative of the word celebrate (aren’t you glad I’m here to state the obvious?) Life is meant to be a celebration. The spiritual aspect of ourself is anything but ordinary. Some of us can feel a greater power working through us, more obviously perhaps if we are creative, but all of us, at some time or the other, have felt ourselves to be capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for. We are meant to be joyful, to co create our life so that we may serve by shining our brightest. It’s easy to continually lose ourself in self doubt as we step into our personal and collective mind sets.
Movies reminds us that we are as free and boundless as our imagination; if we can dream it we can manifest it. Fashion serves to elevate, not merely how we look but how we feel about ourself. It helps us remember the beauty of who we truly are, eternal soul and unique individual. Iconic.
For those thinking that a choice needs to be made between the material and spiritual, are missing the point. The two are mirrors to each each other, reflecting the glory of what it means to embody both! Let’s claim our star power, whichever way it comes to bless us by accepting the simple truth that life is a gift worth celebrating every moment.

life sure is a mirror image of ourselves the spiritual and the world bound. its the confluence of the stream the river and then the ocean all is one – just names given to differentiate the states ..
